Economic Development at the Town of Grimsby

The Town’s Economic Development Officer, is here to facilitate and expedite the development process and help our businesses grow, as well as retain and create new jobs. Our department will assist in identifying strategic alliances, connect with the appropriate government agencies and programs, and work in collaboration with Niagara Region to attract new Foreign Business Development.

Business Retention and Expansion

In 2021, the Town of Grimsby completed its first ever Business Retention and Expansion initiative in partnership with the Grimsby and District Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Results from the BR&E initiative will inform the development of Grimsby’s upcoming Economic Development Strategy to ensure the Town continues to help local businesses grow, create jobs and stay in Grimsby.

Economic Development Strategic Action Plan (2022-2025)

With the collaboration of many volunteers and Staff, the Town of Grimsby developed an in-house Strategic Action Plan that is being successfully implemented.  For the next three years, Town Staff will focus on the 5 strategic goals, encompassing 13 objectives and 35 actions.

Grimsby Vacant Employment Land Directory (2023)

The Town of Grimsby has a small supply of vacant employment lands in the Niagara Region. The Vacant Employment Land Directory details all vacant parcels designated for industrial, and commercial development in Grimsby's employment areas.

Community Development Roundtable Follow-Up (March 20, 2024)

The Town of Grimsby hosted a Community Development Roundtable Follow-Up event, focused on shaping the future of Grimsby's development landscape and strengthening our relationship with the development community. The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre (SCEC) provides the information, resources and tools that entrepreneurs need to launch and grow their startup businesses. The Enterprise Centre has a unique partnership between Ontario's Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and the City of St. Catharines' Economic Development and Tourism Services department that allows the centre to offer a wide variety of business support services.
