Outdoor Rink
Grimsby's Outdoor Rink, known as the "Frieze Box" is a free skating and leisure opportunity for residents that offers dry use from March to December, and ice skating from December - March, weather permitting. Please see below for current rink status.

Skate Descriptions
Please read the rules for each skate period for the Outdoor Rink.
- Helmets strongly recommended
- Youth 10 years and under must be supervised by an adult/guardian
- No hockey sticks, pucks, balls, etc.
- Skate aides are not permitted on the Outdoor Rink
- Helmets and full protective equipment is strongly recommended
- Youth 14 years and under must be supervised by an adult
- All ages and levels must be supervised by an adult
- No Slapshots, hitting of boards, excessive noise or profanity
- Shinny Hockey for players under 12 years of age and adults (18+) who are accompanying
- Helmets and full protective equipment is strongly recommended.
- Rentals are available
- Thursdays from 7pm-9pm
- Saturday from 12pm-2pm
- Sunday from 9am-11am
- All rentals are subject to cancellations due to weather and ice conditions
- Rentals are intended for special events and gatherings, not weekly use.
- One reservation permitted per household per season.
- Reserve your private rental online: Outdoor Rink Reservations or contact the Recreation Department to rent.
Dry Floor Use
From April - November, the outdoor rink can be used for ball hockey, lacrosse and other dry uses. The rink is open from 9am - 10pm, 7 days a week. It is first come, first serve use, with some opportunities to rent time. To rent the Outdoor Rink, please contact the Recreation Office. Time is also blocked for the ball hockey league, please see Outdoor Ball Hockey for more information.
