Grimsby Heritage Committee

The Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee is a group of volunteers that provides Council with advice on identifying, conserving and promoting heritage within the Town of Grimsby. The Committee provides consultation under the Ontario Heritage Act with regard to:

  • property and district designation (Part IV and Part V designations);
  • the Town Heritage Register;
  • development applications involving heritage items; and
  • establishing easements to protect heritage items.

The Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee commenced its first meeting on January 16, 2018.

Interpretive plaques

In addition to the duties listed above, the Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee also reviews a number of interpretive plaques prepared by Town Staff. Subjects of cultural heritage value or interest are interpreted throughout the municipality on plaques as part of the Grimsby Remembers and Grimsby Nature programs. Recent topics include Del Lord, H.G.&B. Car Barn and Grimsby Beach Waterfront.
