Trails

A part of the Bruce Trail passes through Grimsby. This popular hiking trail runs through Beamer Valley and over the Forty Mile Creek before heading to the top of the escarpment where it has four lookouts, offering an excellent view of Lake Ontario and the Town of Grimsby.

The most popular access point is Beamer Memorial Conservation Area. This is the location of the annual spring hawk migration over the Niagara Peninsula. Picnic tables, parking and a hawk watch tower and an elevated lookout platform are highlights of this location. Public washrooms are on site.

This trail is managed by the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

Grimsby is part of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, a cycling trail that stretches over 3000 km, connecting 140 communities along the Canadian shores of the Great Lakes. The trail can be enjoyed for a quick stroll, or as part of a multi-day long distance adventure.

The trail passes along pretty residential streets, some of which feature historic cottages.  The quaint cottage-style homes have been well preserved and are brightly painted.  You can enjoy another piece of history at the Pumphouse at Forty Mile Creek Park with an open area suitable for picnics and relaxation.

This trail is managed by the Waterfront Regeneration Trust.

Another pathway that is used mostly for cycling, Grimsby is part of the Greenbelt Route Trail. This trail is a 475 km route that connects cyclists to areas of beautiful, protected countryside from Northumberland to Niagara. The full trail will take six or more days to ride, but it can also be enjoyed in small sections.
