Heat Warnings

Below is a list of resources for Grimsby residents looking to stay cool or find some relief from the extreme heat.

Staying Healthy and Safe During Extreme Heat

Environment Canada issues heat alerts when:

  • The humidex is 40°C or higher for two consecutive days

  • Daily temperatures are expected to reach 31°C or higher and overnight temperatures are at least 20°C or higher, for two consecutive days

 

Public Health lists at-risk populations and ways to protect yourself during a heat warning. 

 

Cooling Spaces in Grimsby

Anyone seeking relief from the extreme heat is welcome at the following Town facilities and outdoor spaces during heat alerts:

Please visit our Public Swimming webpage to learn more about our pool programs and hours. FREE public swims when a High Heat Alert has been activated.  Water filling station available.

 

Grimsby Museum (6 Murray St., Grimsby)

Tuesday - Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
