An update for residents amid ongoing postal strike
Amid ongoing uncertainty about when postal services will resume, the Town urges residents to consider alternative methods for submitting payments during this time. Additionally, those anticipating a bill from the Town are encouraged to contact the relevant department to verify the details.
We do not recommend residents send urgent documents or payments by mail at this time.
Alternative Payment Methods:
- Enrolling in pre-authorized payment plans for Water bills and Property Taxes
- Making payments at your bank or financial institution, online banking or using the credit card option available on our website. Visit our website for more information: https://www.grimsby.ca/living-in/property-taxes/paying-your-property-taxes/.
- Making payment in person at 160 Livingston Avenue or using the drop box at this address.
Property Taxes: Property owners are still responsible for any outstanding bills. We encourage residents to reach out to our Property Tax Team if they are expecting a reminder notice or believe they have a balance. The team can be reached at taxes@grimsby.ca. Please be sure you have your PIN number handy, which is located above the roll number on your tax bill.
Property Tax Owners on a monthly Pre-Authorized payment plan should note that monthly payment amounts will be recalculated for January to June monthly withdrawal. You can calculate your new monthly amount by dividing your total 2024 taxes levied by 10 to come up with your monthly payment amount. Notices will be delayed due to the postal disruption. Contact taxes@grimsby.ca for your new monthly payment amount if required.
Water Bills: Water Bills for Area D are scheduled to be delivered next week, which includes account numbers starting with 056 to 070. This includes properties located West of Kerman Avenue and the West Grimsby border, between the Lake and the Escarpment.
If you have not received your water bill by Friday, December 20, you are encouraged to contact the Town’s Water Department to obtain the amount owing on your account. Payment for Area D bills are due by January 9, 2025. You can obtain information about your Water account at any time by contacting us at water@grimsby.ca.
Accounts Payable: For the period of postal service disruption, cheques will not be mailed out. Vendors have the option to collect their cheques in person by providing valid identification at the time of pickup. Vendors can also enroll in EFT payment to receive remittance more efficiently by contacting us at accountspayable@grimsby.ca.
Parking Tickets: Detailed information about how to pay for an outstanding parking tickets can be found on our website at: https://www.grimsby.ca/living-in/roads-sidewalks-and-parking/parking/
We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
