Collecting eclipse glasses for Astronomers Without Borders
The Total Solar Eclipse was a remarkable event, and we hope you created lasting memories for years to come.
If you are looking to give your eclipse glasses a second chance, the Town of Grimsby is encouraging the community to drop their glasses off at a Town facility. We will be collecting and donating them to Astronomers Without Borders, or we’ll manage the proper recycling and disposal if they aren’t reusable. Glasses can be dropped off at Town Hall, the Peach King Centre, Livingston Activity Centre, and the Grimsby Library.
Astronomers Without Borders collects the glasses to send to people who may not otherwise have a safe way to view future eclipses in their countries.

We want to thank Dr. Peaker Eyewear once again for the generous donation toward the purchase of our solar eclipse glasses. We’ve heard from residents just how much they were appreciated. As part of the distribution of solar eclipse glasses, donations to GBF were collected and Grimsby raised $519.50 in cash donations and 288 kg of food.
Thank you, Grimsby community!
