Mayor Jordan addresses concerns about crime in Grimsby

It is truly heartbreaking to hear that Harmony House Jewellers has been robbed again and our hearts go out to the owners and staff who work so hard to serve our community.

Over the past few weeks, our community has experienced a troubling increase in criminal activity, including multiple robberies that have understandably caused concern and fear, and have shaken our sense of security.

I want to assure you that the safety of every resident is our top priority.

I have been in close communication with Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) and emergency response teams. In the immediate term, NRPS has significantly increased police presence in Grimsby and officers are actively conducting enhanced and highly visible patrols to deter further crime, reassure residents, and maintain public safety.

In addition, I am actively advocating at the regional level for increased law enforcement support, including additional personnel and coordinated task forces. Our Town cannot face this challenge alone and I am working to ensure we have the resources and reinforcements we need to keep our residents safe.

I am committed to leading with urgency, transparency, and resolve. I ask for your continued vigilance, cooperation, and trust as we work together to restore safety in every corner of our town.

Stay alert, report suspicious activity, and support one another.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or taken videos/pictures are strongly encouraged to contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, extension #1009383 or by email at 9383@niagarapolice.ca

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.

Together, we can and will restore peace to our Town. Thank you for your strength, your resilience, and your cooperation.

Please take care of yourselves and each other.
