Town of Grimsby announces pilot Heritage Property Grant with funding up to $5,000.00

Town of Grimsby announces pilot Heritage Property Grant with funding up to $5,000.00

Property owners can apply for matching grants to help maintain heritage sites

Protecting cultural heritage is essential to a community as it fosters cultural identity and a sense of place, while also providing educational and economic benefits. The Town is proud of our rich, diverse history and sees the importance of preserving and celebrating our stories, traditions and buildings.

To further support Grimsby’s designated property owners, the Town is making a financial commitment by way of a pilot grant program to share in the cost of restoration and maintenance with heritage property owners. This new program will further preserve our community’s heritage and encourage the long-term retention of our culturally significant corridors.

This new pilot program will provide funding towards heritage restoration projects in the Town of Grimsby. Designated property owners can apply for matching grants of up to $5,000, with intention for the funding to be used within 12 months. Eligible work includes the repair of original elements, structural updates, sustainable updates, and restoration projects. The Town of Grimsby strongly believes that the heritage we protect today will shape the legacy we leave for generations to come.

Property Grant Application Forms and supporting documents can be found on our website at https://www.grimsby.ca/parks-recreation-and-culture/history-and-heritage/heritage-properties/.
