NEWS RELEASE: Grimsby’s GLaM GALA returns for another year

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery, the Grimsby Public Library and the Grimsby Museum welcomes the community to Grimsby’s premier cultural event for a second year in a row. This fundraising gala, taking place on Friday, May 10th from 7 – 11 p.m. located at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery and Library (18 Carnegie Lane), is dedicated to fostering and encouraging an appreciation for arts, literature, culture, and history, with proceeds benefiting programming for the Library, Art Gallery, and the new permanent gallery at the Museum.

The Town of Grimsby invites the community to join us for the cultural event of the season, celebrating the beauty of creativity, the power of storytelling, the richness of cultural diversity, and the lessons of history that have shaped our shared humanity. Hosted by Master of Ceremonies, Matthew Walker from Grimsby’s local radio station, 88.5 The Lake, residents can enjoy an evening of entertainment, food and beverage, a live auction sponsored by Harmony Jewellers, and a silent auction going live on Monday May 6.

Entertainment will be provided by a Woodwind Quintet from the Niagara Symphony Orchestra (NSO) conducted by Music Director, Bradley Thachuk, as well as Hamilton based harpist, Lisa Warren. Complimentary tastings will be provided by Forty Creek, Commisso Estate Winery and Malivoire Wine Co. Chef Brad Rempel will be passing around delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar will be available.

“The Grimsby Public Art Gallery, the Grimsby Public Library, and the Grimsby Museum have been fundamental organizations within our community, providing an outlet for individuals to nurture creativity, celebrate personal and societal well-being, implement empathy, and understanding, preserve and take pride in our cultural heritage. Through this event, we hope to ignite a passion for lifelong learning and exploration of the world's rich cultural tapestry." Jeff Jordan, Mayor of the Town of Grimsby.

As leading advocates for supporting arts and culture in Grimsby, the GLaM GALA aims to preserve and celebrate the rich fabric of human creativity and heritage and seeks to promote the invaluable ongoing contributions of artists, writers, cultural institutions, and historians that shape our collective identity and understanding of the world.

“Fundraising plays a vital role in sustaining the programs we offer at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, the Grimsby Public Library, and the Grimsby Museum. Events like the GLaM GALA can really demonstrate how we as organizations continue to drive innovation, create an impact, and foster meaningful connections with supporters and the community.” Janet Oakes, Manager/ Curator, of the Grimsby Museum.

The event aims to help the community foster an appreciation for arts, literature, culture, and history, so we can enrich lives, promote cross-cultural understanding, and inspire future generations.
