NEWS RELEASE: The Town of Grimsby Appoints a New Director of Finance/Treasurer

Chief Administrative Officer, Sarah Kim, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Del Monaco as the new Director of Finance/Treasurer, effective April 22, 2024. As the Treasurer, Tony will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial affairs and strategic financial management of our municipality.

The position is responsible for all areas of finance including budgets, financial reporting, financial statements, audits, treasury, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, procurement and strategic acquisitions, employee benefits, insurance portfolio, debt management and investment portfolio.

The role acts as the Chief Financial Officer of the Town, providing visionary leadership fiscally sound Town operations, as prescribed by the Municipal Act, 2001.

Over the course of his 20+ year career in the public sector, Tony has held various senior level positions across a range of disciplines including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and asset management. Most recently Tony was the Director of Finance & Facilities for the Hamilton Public Library where he dedicated his time in that position for more than 8 years. Prior to his tenure at the Library, Tony was the Manager of Accounting for the City of Hamilton.

Tony is a graduate of McMaster University where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree, and he is also a certified CMA/CPA.

With a wealth of experience in finance, Tony brings a proven track record of effective financial leadership and sound decision-making. His expertise will be instrumental in guiding Grimsby towards continued fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth.
