October 2nd, 2023 Council Meeting Cancelled due to Truth and Reconciliation Day

Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a federal holiday commemorated on September 30th to honour the painful and lasting impacts of residential schools in Canada.

It is meant to raise awareness of the tragic history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, and to foster truth-telling and reconciliation. It’s also an opportunity for residents, Town Staff, and Council to honour survivors, their families and communities, and take part in the journey towards reconciliation.

While this day is designated on September 30th, the Town of Grimsby will observe the holiday on Monday, October 2nd. As such the Town of Grimsby has decided to cancel the scheduled Council meeting on Monday, October 2nd to respect and honour this day in alignment with the majority of municipalities in this Region.

The next meeting will be held on October 16 at 6:30 pm.
