Proposed Tax Payment Grace Period Supported by Committee of the Whole

On April 4th, 2022, Grimsby’s Committee of the Whole passed a resolution to amend the Town’s Tax Collection By-law 22-16.

If ratified by Council on April 18th, 2022, the amendment would introduce a grace period of three (3) business days after each tax payment due date before penalties and interest are applied.

This change would provide Grimsby residents with greater financial support during the tax payment process.

Should the proposed By-law amendment be ratified on April 18th, 2022, the change would be enacted retroactively to March 1st, 2022. This would support residents that were impacted by the Town’s most recent tax billing cycle.

Taxpayers charged interest and penalties on tax payments received on Monday March 7th, 2022 through to Wednesday March 9th, 2022 will be issued a credit.
