Strike Notice of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers issued a 72-hour strike notice on Tuesday, November 12 and the Town of Grimsby is working to find solutions for our residents to try and mitigate any potential impacts to our community.
With a legal strike occurring as early as Friday, November 15, it is unclear if any definite disruption will occur however, we encourage residents to use alternate methods for sending payment during this period. Examples include:
· Submitting urgent documents to the Town by email or using online portals where applicable.
· Enrolling in pre-authorized payment plans for Water bills and Property Taxes
· Making payments at your bank or financial institution, online banking or using the credit card option available on our website. Visit our website for more information: https://www.grimsby.ca/living-in/property-taxes/paying-your-property-taxes/.
· Making payment in person at 160 Livingston Avenue or using the drop box at this address.
Property Owners: Property tax reminders which are typically mailed to owners in December with any outstanding balance may be delayed. We encourage residents to reach out to our Property Tax Team to inquire about any unpaid balances at taxes@grimsby.ca. Please be sure you have your PIN number handy, which is located above the roll number on your tax bill.
Water Bills: Water Bills are mailed out each month to applicable service areas. Should a service disruption occur, bills may be hand delivered however, you can obtain information about your Water account at any time by contacting us at water@grimsby.ca.
Accounts Payable: For any vendor receiving cheque payments delivered by mail, there could be potential delays in receiving imbursement. Vendors have the option to collect their cheques in person by providing valid identification at the time of pickup. Vendors can also enroll in EFT payment to receive payment more efficiently by contacting us at accountspayable@grimsby.ca.
Parking Tickets: Detailed information about how to pay for an outstanding parking tickets can be found on our website at: https://www.grimsby.ca/living-in/roads-sidewalks-and-parking/parking/
We will be sure to keep the community posted as new information becomes available.
