Strike Notice of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers - Update
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have officially gone on strike as of Friday, November 15, 2024, and Town of Grimsby residents may be impacted.
With uncertainty surrounding when the postal service will resume, the Town is encouraging residents to use alternate methods for sending payment during this period. We also encourage anyone expecting a bill from the Town to reach out to the appropriate department to confirm the details.
At the present time, we do not recommend residents send urgent documents or payments by mail.
Alternative Payment Methods:
- Enrolling in pre-authorized payment plans for Water bills and Property Taxes
- Making payments at your bank or financial institution, online banking or using the credit card option available on our website. Visit our website for more information: https://www.grimsby.ca/living-in/property-taxes/paying-your-property-taxes/.
- Making payment in person at 160 Livingston Avenue or using the drop box at this address.
Property Taxes: Property owners are still responsible for any outstanding bills. We encourage residents to reach out to our Property Tax Team if they are expecting a reminder notice or believe they have a balance. The team can be reached at taxes@grimsby.ca. Please be sure you have your PIN number handy, which is located above the roll number on your tax bill.
Water Bills: Water Bills for Area C are scheduled to be issued next week, which includes account numbers starting with 036 - 054. Bills will be prepared on or after Wednesday, November 20 and you can obtain information about your Water account at any time by contacting us at water@grimsby.ca. Town Staff are also exploring alternative delivery options for Water bills.
Accounts Payable: For the period of postal service disruption, cheques will not be mailed out. Vendors have the option to collect their cheques in person by providing valid identification at the time of pickup. Vendors can also enroll in EFT payment to receive remittance more efficiently by contacting us at accountspayable@grimsby.ca.
